A 22-month prison sentence has been imposed on an individual for benefit fraud, following an investigation by the Main Customs Office Osnabrück. The case was detected through DALEB, an automated data comparison process.

The convicted individual, part of a needy household receiving yourtexasbenefits under the Social Security Code, had failed to report a partner's employment and receipt of unemployment benefits. This led to around €5,000 in wrongfully received benefits. The fraud was uncovered when the Federal Employment Agency and municipal carriers flagged the discrepancy through DALEB. The Hauptzollamt Osnabrück, led by press spokesman Christian Heyer (contactable at 0541-3301-1006 or [email protected]), initiated investigations that culminated in the prosecution and sentencing by the Lingen District Court.
