Aid organizations urge for financial aid collection for the Philippines, which has been affected by floods, through GBayanihan
In the aftermath of the recent storms and heavy monsoon rains affecting over 2.7 million people across 17 regions in the Philippines, GCash, the country's leading finance super app, is stepping up to support disaster relief efforts.
GCash, in partnership with various NGOs, is utilising its digital platform to facilitate faster disaster relief in flood-hit areas. The GBayanihan platform, a digital community connecting donors directly to verified humanitarian organisations, streamlines the process of mobilising funds. Users can easily select and donate to partner NGOs within the GCash app, ensuring donations go immediately to organisations actively responding to disaster relief efforts.
The GBayanihan platform emphasises transparency and security, urging users to donate only through verified QR codes or the GBayanihan feature to avoid scams. GCash assures donors that the platform adheres to the highest standards of transparency, ensuring their contributions go directly to verified NGO partners.
Some of the NGO partners included in GCash's GBayanihan are ABS-CBN Foundation, Ayala Foundation, UNICEF, and Save the Children. These organisations are involved in mobilising disaster relief operations in affected areas.
Users are encouraged to only scan verified QR codes of these NGOs or use the 'GBayanihan' feature directly to avoid scammers. Additionally, they should not share sensitive account information such as MPINs or one-time passwords (OTPs).
