Amazon Invests $4 Billion in Anthropic for Advanced AI on Bedrock
Amazon and Anthropic have announced a strategic partnership that will see Amazon invest up to $4 billion in the AI company. This collaboration will bring Anthropic's state-of-the-art models to Amazon's cloud platform, Bedrock, and facilitate joint development of future technologies.
As part of the deal, Amazon will take a minority stake in Anthropic. This investment will enable Amazon developers and engineers to build on top of Anthropic's models via Amazon Bedrock. Additionally, Anthropic will make AWS its primary cloud provider for mission-critical workloads, gaining access to leading compute infrastructure like AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips.
The partnership will also see Amazon and Anthropic collaborate on the development of future Trainium and Inferentia technology. Anthropic will expand support for Amazon Bedrock, including secure model customization and fine-tuning. This will allow customers to easily customize and deploy Anthropic's models on Bedrock.
Meanwhile, Bridgewater Associates is leveraging Anthropic's Claude 2 model to develop an investment analyst assistant. Claude 2, which will be available for a wide range of tasks, is also being used by LexisNexis Legal & Professional for conversational search and legal drafting capabilities.
The collaboration between Amazon and Anthropic is set to enhance the capabilities of both companies. Amazon's investment will support Anthropic's growth and innovation, while Anthropic's models will bring advanced AI functionality to Amazon's customers. The partnership is expected to drive progress in the development of reliable and high-performing foundation models.
