Anthropic Names Guillaume Princen as Head of EMEA, Set to Hire Over 100 Positions throughout the Region

In a move aimed at strengthening its presence in Europe, AI research company Anthropic has appointed Guillaume Princen as Head of EMEA. Princen, who was Stripe's first employee outside the United States in 2014, brings invaluable expertise in scaling businesses across diverse EMEA markets.

Anthropic's expansion in Europe is driven by the growing demand for its AI, Claude, which has been increasingly chosen by European organizations for its intelligence, speed, and industry-leading coding abilities. Notable European organizations using Claude include leading companies in various industries.

The expansion aims to provide advanced performance, security, and reliability that leading organizations need to transform how they work with AI. It also seeks to support Anthropic's growing European customer base and ensure its approach to responsible AI development aligns with the region's high expectations.

Anthropic's focus remains on serving the thriving startup ecosystem while delivering Claude's capabilities to major enterprises across the region. The hiring will primarily take place across the Dublin and London offices, with plans to expand across Europe.

Daniela Amodei, President and co-founder of Anthropic, stated that EMEA has been central to their vision from the beginning. She expressed her excitement about the expansion, saying, "We're thrilled to have Guillaume join our team as we continue to grow our presence in Europe. His commitment to responsible innovation and deep understanding of the EMEA market make him a natural choice to lead Anthropic's expansion in this region."

Guillaume Princen, in his new role, emphasized the critical moment for businesses needing advanced AI capabilities. He stated, "Anthropic's expansion comes at a critical moment for businesses needing advanced AI capabilities. I'm excited to lead Anthropic's growth in Europe and help more organizations harness the power of AI to transform their operations."

Anthropic's expansion plans include creating more than 100 new roles across multiple functions this year. The company is hiring a variety of roles across sales, engineering, research, and business operations. Since launching Claude in Europe last year, Anthropic has seen rapid organic growth amongst businesses and consumers alike. Important shareholders of Anthropic include venture capital firms such as Andreessen Horowitz and Founders Fund, with significant funding rounds since its founding in 2021 raising over $1 billion from top-tier investors including Sam Altman and other tech leaders. Anthropic’s financing primarily comes from major Silicon Valley investors specializing in AI and deep tech startups.

Anthropic recently expanded its European footprint with the opening of a research-focused office in Zurich earlier this year, led by AI scientist Neil Houlsby. The company's expansion is not just about growth but also about serving its customers better and contributing to the responsible development of AI in Europe.

Consumers, particularly tastemakers, are drawn to Claude for its certain je ne sais quoi in conversation and thoughtful design. With its expansion, Anthropic aims to bring this unique offering to more European markets.
