APM Terminals Pipavav Sets New Record: Handles 2,602 Vehicles in January
APM Terminals Pipavav has set a new record by handling 2,602 vehicles in a single month, supporting its decarbonisation goals and easing road congestion. The port, operated by APM Terminals, is located on Gujarat's southwest coast and serves as a crucial hub for Honda's exports.
The record-breaking figure was achieved in January, with the port managing 26 newly modified goods rakes for finished vehicle transport. APM Terminals Pipavav, in collaboration with NYK Line and Auto Logistics, is facilitating the export of Honda's Elevate cars manufactured at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The vehicles are destined for both left-hand-drive markets like Turkey, Mexico, and the Middle East, and right-hand-drive markets such as Nepal, Bhutan, South Africa, and the SADC region.
Honda Cars India is locally sourcing 90% of the parts and materials for the Elevate, contributing to the country's economy. The company has sold 30,000 units of the Elevate in India since its launch in September 2023. Notably, the Elevate, made in India, is being launched as the WR-V in Japan.
APM Terminals Pipavav's record vehicle handling supports Honda's export ambitions and contributes to India's automotive industry growth. The port's efficient operations and collaborations with NYK Line and Auto Logistics enable seamless transportation of vehicles to global markets.
