Reliving the triumphant spirit: Experience the "Victory Train" in contemporary Russia

As the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Patriotic War approaches, the iconic "Victory Train" series L-620 "Triumph on Wheels" has made its way to Barnaul on May 4th. The Ministry of Transport of Altai Territory has promised a journey back in time for the passengers, infusing the platform with the spirits of yesteryears. Amongst the interactive zones setup on the station square, visitors can enjoy vintage technology displays, photo ops, workshops, and a hearty field kitchen. The L-620 "Triumph on Wheels" remains in Barnaul until 2 pm.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted with reprints of the 1945 "Gudok" newspaper, kindly offered by volunteers.

"Barnaul City" remembers that these locomotives, having been produced in great numbers from 1945 to 1955, became vital assets across the nation's railway infrastructure. The designers were honored with the Stalin Prize for bringing this project to fruition.

Today, these "Swans" can be found gracing various Russian station squares and depots, even in Biysk. The L-620 "Triumph on Wheels" frequently appear in famous movies like "Big Transfers," "Children of Arbat," and "The Twelve Chairs," among others. While many steam locomotives have been retired, some continue to serve their purpose.
