Artesanos Camiseros Workers Strike Over Unpaid Salaries

Workers at Artesanos Camiseros factory in Manzanares are on strike, demanding payment of salaries pending since August 2022. The strike is a response to the company's proposed pay plan, which has yet to be fulfilled.

The strike aims to pressure Artesanos Camiseros to honour its commitments. The company, majority shareholder of AB Diseño y Moda, has been struggling financially. In February 2023, it filed for bankruptcy and was granted four months to reach an agreement with creditors.

As part of its restructuring plan, Artesanos Camiseros proposed opening new stores in the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK to boost international sales. However, this plan has not yet materialised. The company also proposed an employment regulation file (ERE) to dismiss four out of 105 workers at the Manzanares factory.

The strike at Artesanos Camiseros highlights the ongoing financial difficulties of the company and its subsidiary, AB Diseño y Moda. Workers are demanding immediate pay of their pending salaries, while the company works towards a restructuring plan to secure its future.
