Bakery Express Midwest Expands Operations in Boone County
Bakery Express Midwest, a subsidiary of the Bakery Express family of companies, has made a significant investment in Boone County, Kentucky. The new commercial bakery manufacturing company, located in Florence, is a more-than-$20 million venture that is expected to create over 225 full-time jobs in the region.
The groundbreaking for the 50,000-square-foot facility took place in January 2024, and the project was first announced by Bakery Express Midwest in June 2023. This expansion builds on the economic momentum seen across the Commonwealth, as the company joins a thriving food and flavoring industry in Northern Kentucky.
Bakery Express Mid-Atlantic Inc., founded in 1970, is the first of several companies founded by Charles Burman. Today, Bakery Express of Central Florida, Bakery Express of Central Texas, Bakery Express of Southern California, and Bakery Express Midwest collectively serve over 4,000 retail outlets across the United States.
The fresh daily product line of Bakery Express companies includes a wide variety of items such as donuts, muffins, cookies, brownies, croissants, bagels, pastries, cupcakes, and other specialty items. The new facility in Boone County will serve Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee with these fresh baked goods.
Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore is pleased about the investment, stating that it will bring new opportunities to the region. Gov. Beshear also congratulated Bakery Express Midwest on this significant milestone in Boone County.
Lee Crume, CEO of BE NKY Growth Partnership, added that the $20 million investment is a strong addition to Northern Kentucky's thriving food and flavoring industry. The exact address of the facility in Florence, Kentucky, has not been disclosed.
As of now, Bakery Express companies employ 620 people, and with the new location, they are expected to increase their workforce. The new facility in Boone County marks the latest location for Bakery Express Midwest, further expanding their reach across the United States.
