Bavarian Delegation Explores Phosphorus Recovery from Sewage Sludge in Czech Republic

A delegation from Bavaria, led by Mayor Robert Poeschl and Rudolf Grieb, visited a facility in Trutnov, Czech Republic, to learn about smart phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge. The trip aimed to explore the possibility of implementing similar practices in the region.

The visit was part of an information tour organised by the Communal Energy Utilization (KE) Schwaben, with Robert Poeschl serving as its chairman. Accompanying him was Rudolf Grieb, the chairman of the city council of Buchloe and the mayor, who also holds the position of vice-chairman at KE Schwaben.

The Buchloe city council was invited, but only Grieb and Poeschl attended. The trip focused on the Czech Republic's practice of sewage sludge incineration and its use as fertilizer. The delegation observed the process at a facility in Trutnov, gaining insights into smart phosphorus recovery methods.

The Bavarian delegation returned with valuable knowledge about smart phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge. Mayor Robert Poeschl and Rudolf Grieb, as key figures in the Communal Energy Utilization Schwaben, will now consider implementing similar practices in the region, following the successful visit to the Czech Republic.
