Belgian Pet Food Leader Edgard and Cooper Sets New Bar for Ethical Claims

Belgian pet food company Edgard and Cooper leads the pack in ethical claims, with approximately 80% of its products boasting such credentials. This outpaces industry giants like Nestlé Purina PetCare and Mars Petcare, according to Euromonitor's analysis of categories like animal welfare and sustainable packaging.

Euromonitor's study revealed France as the country with the highest percentage of pet food products making ethical claims (7.5%), followed by the US (6.9%). Smaller companies like Edgard and Cooper may adapt more swiftly to consumer demands for sustainable products due to their agility. Meanwhile, pet owners, particularly in Europe and North America, increasingly consider environmental and social impacts when shopping for pet food.

Notably, smaller, nature-focused brands and even major traditional companies are emphasizing ethical claims in their marketing and packaging. For instance, US-based Brass Natural Products positions itself as an expert in natural care, while Nestlé has faced criticism over ethical concerns, affecting its sustainability reputation.

Edgard and Cooper's commitment to ethical claims and sustainability goals sets it apart. With pet owners worldwide increasingly considering ethical factors, the Belgian company's approach may well shape the future of the pet food industry.
