In an effort to reduce CO2 emissions and offer cost advantages over diesel, Verbio, a leading provider of individual supply solutions for companies with their own vehicle fleets, is championing the use of biomethane as a climate-friendly fuel for heavy commercial vehicles.

This renewable energy source, available in two forms - BioCNG (compressed natural gas) and BioLNG (liquefied natural gas) - offers significant benefits for the environment and fleet operators' wallets.

**Environmental Impact**

Biomethane fuels like BioCNG and BioLNG substantially lower CO2 emissions, making them climate-friendly. Being produced from sustainable, renewable sources, these fuels have a much lower net carbon footprint as the carbon emitted when burned is roughly balanced by the carbon absorbed during the organic matter's growth phase. This use of renewable biomethane contributes to decarbonizing heavy transport, an area traditionally reliant on fossil diesel and responsible for a significant share of transportation emissions.

**Cost Advantages**

Although exact prices can vary by region and market conditions, biomethane fuels typically offer cost competitiveness against diesel. Their use can reduce fuel costs for fleet operators because biomethane is often cheaper than diesel on an energy-equivalent basis. Moreover, many countries provide incentives or lower taxes on renewable fuels, enhancing their economic attractiveness compared to diesel.

**Range for Regional and Long-Distance Transport**

BioCNG is best suited for regional transport, offering moderate driving ranges, while BioLNG, being liquefied, provides a higher energy density, making it ideal for long-distance transport with extended driving ranges without frequent refueling stops.

At the Transport Logistic in Munich, Verbio is showcasing its solutions for climate-friendly propulsion of heavy commercial vehicles. Verbio operates more than 20 of its own BioCNG and BioLNG filling stations in Germany, and nearly all of its approximately 150 company-owned tractors run on CNG or LNG propulsion.

Verbio's partnerships with Baywa Power Liquids and Knauber Gas further bolster its offerings. The focus is on the use of biomethane as an alternative to fossil fuels. Verbio's booth is located in Hall A6, Booth 218.

BioLNG offers a range of up to 1,600 kilometers, making it particularly suitable for long-haul heavy-duty trucks requiring extended range similar to diesel counterparts. BioCNG is suitable for short-distance transport in municipal and delivery traffic, with a typical driving range per refuel of several hundred kilometers (e.g., 300-400 km).

Verbio's filling stations are open around the clock and accept common fleet cards like DKV and UTA. Companies using the Verbio refuel card can negotiate their own conditions. Freight companies can save up to 90% CO2 with biomethane compared to diesel.

Verbio's customers for such projects include Heidelberg Materials, Reinert Logistic, Reichhart Logistik, Transgourmet, and Reck Busreisen. Biomethane is produced at Verbio from residual materials, and in collaboration with Iveco Nord-Ost, Verbio offers leasing customers CNG and LNG vehicles, including fuel procurement, at combined conditions.

  1. In the realm of environmental-science, biomethane as a climate-friendly fuel, produced from renewable sources, significantly lowers CO2 emissions, contributing positively to the decarbonization of heavy transport and reducing its reliance on fossil diesel.
  2. Within the domain of finance, biomethane fuels such as BioCNG and BioLNG often offer cost advantages over diesel, due in part to their frequent price competitiveness and additional incentives or tax reductions provided by various countries for the use of renewable fuels.
  3. In the transportation industry, BioLNG, due to its higher energy density, is suitable for long-distance transport, providing a range of up to 1,600 kilometers, similar to diesel counterparts, while BioCNG is best suited for short-distance transport, offering moderate driving ranges.
