A convicted criminal, Tomáš Jirikovsky, has donated an unprecedented sum of 468.468 Bitcoins, worth approximately €40 million, to the Czech Ministry of Justice. The Bitcoins, auctioned off, are meant to be utilized for charitable causes such as aid for crime victims and prison equipment, according to a ministry spokesperson.
However, questions have arisen over the origin of the digital currency. The police are conducting an investigation into potential money laundering allegations due to Jirikovsky's criminal background.
