BMW Sports Car Withdrawn: Owner Sues Dealer Over Hidden Accident Damage
A BMW sports car, purchased for around 50,000 euros, has been withdrawn from use after traffic police in Rhein-Sieg-Kreis discovered numerous discrepancies between its vehicle documents and installed parts. The car's owner, a young man from Sankt Augustin, is now considering legal action against the carmax dealer who sold it as defect-free and accident-free.
The BMW was originally registered in the USA, where it suffered severe damage in a traffic accident. It was then exported to Lithuania for repairs before being imported into Germany. However, the vehicle's suspension did not match the vehicle type and had been attempted to be leveled out with different spacers. The lighting equipment had also been altered, lacking inspection marks, and some parts were traced back to a Chinese online shop.
The car was found to have an additional brake light that flashed like a Formula 1 racing car when braking, which is not permitted on public roads. The vehicle owner is now exploring legal options due to the misrepresentation of the car's condition by the carmax dealer.
The BMW sports car, bought from a Sankt Augustin carmax dealership, has been deemed a total loss due to its accident history and illegal modifications. The owner's potential legal action against the carmax dealer may serve as a reminder for other car buyers to thoroughly inspect vehicles and verify their history before purchase.
