Boris Neisser, 56, passed away on a Wednesday evening following a severe illness. He served as the Managing Director of Destination Düsseldorf and held the position of Director of Sponsoring at Messe Düsseldorf.

In sad news, Boris Neisser, a cherished friend and companion within the Economic Association and Destination Düsseldorf (DD), has passed away.

Throughout his life, Neisser dedicated his time and energy to the city of Düsseldorf and the Economic Association, leaving an indelible mark on both. He served as the managing director of DD Events GmbH and, since 2000, has been at the helm of the DD office.

Neisser's commitment to the Economic Association was unwavering. He significantly expanded its membership, growing it to around 150 members. His extraordinary personality played a significant role in shaping the Association, making him the heart and engine of Destination Düsseldorf.

Neisser's professional journey with Messe Düsseldorf began in 1995. Over the years, he held various roles, transforming Düsseldorf's events into internationally recognised flagship events such as the schauinsland-reisen Jazz Rally, Düsseldorf France Festival, Tour de Düsseldorf, and ProWein goes city.

In 2000, Neisser was appointed as a board member of the Economic Association. His dedication and hard work were rewarded in 2005 when he was awarded the French National Order of Merit (Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite). In 2012, he was named "Düsseldorfer of the Year" in the culture category, a testament to his significant contributions to the city.

Deepest sympathies are expressed to Neisser's family, including his wife Birgit and daughter Bibiane, during this difficult time. Otto Lindner, DD's board spokesman, mourns Neisser's loss, recognising the void his passing has left in the Economic Association and Destination Düsseldorf.
