Upon closing, U-Haul's repair shop, a longstanding fixture in San Bernardino, marks the end of its 54-year service.

Business shuts down repair workshop in San Bernardino, a tradition spanning 54 years by U-Haul.

In a strategic move aimed at optimizing operations and better serving customer needs, U-Haul has closed its repair shop at 891 S. Arrowhead Ave. in San Bernardino, California, after more than five decades of servicing regional moving equipment. The closure, which took place in late June 2025, resulted in the unfortunate layoff of 37 team members.

The former repair shop facility, which once housed the U-Haul Company of San Bernardino regional offices, will now be repurposed as U-Box of San Bernardino, a 30,000-square-foot warehouse designed to store up to 2,500 of U-Haul's popular portable moving containers.

U-Haul will continue to maintain ownership of the Arrowhead Avenue property, ensuring a strong presence in the region.

To ensure uninterrupted service for their rental equipment, U-Haul has set up a new repair shop at 1235 E. Baseline St., scheduled to begin operations on July 28, 2025.

U-Haul's strategic adjustments often involve long-term plans, physical site conditions, shifts in demographics, availability of local team members, expansion of neighbourhood dealer networks, and proximity to other company locations, among other external factors. This particular closure and repurposing fit into that broader context of optimizing facilities to better meet business and customer needs.

Despite the closure, U-Haul's financial performance remains strong. The company's Q4 2025 revenue was $1.23 billion, beating the expectation by $70 million. However, the GAAP EPS for the same period was -$0.41, missing the expectation by $0.24.

As U-Haul continues to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of its customers, it remains committed to providing top-notch services and solutions for all moving and storage needs in the San Bernardino region.
