CANAL+ Group Unveils New Leadership for Expanded African Operations
CANAL+ Group has unveiled a new leadership team for its expanded African operations following the integration of MultiChoice Group. The appointments aim to drive growth and strengthen CANAL+ Africa's footprint across the continent's broadcasting and entertainment landscape.
Key appointments include Nicolas Dandoy as CFO for Africa, Aziz Diallo as CEO for PayTV French-speaking Africa, Byron Du Plessis as CEO for PayTV South Africa, and Fhulufhelo 'Fhulu' Badugela as CEO for PayTV Rest of Africa. Tim Jacobs has been appointed Director of Group Synergies within the finance department. Steven Budlendler has been named General Counsel for English-speaking Africa and Group Special Adviser for Common Law.
Nomsa Philiso is the Director of Content for General Entertainment, covering English and Portuguese-speaking Africa, in the newly restructured leadership team. The new structure will operate as a single management team across Africa, organized into three divisions: Operations, Content, and Corporate Functions. Other leadership roles span content, advertising, communications, technology, human resources, public affairs, and integration, with senior figures taking on top positions.
David Mignot has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the combined CANAL+ Africa business, while Calvo Mawela, former CEO of MultiChoice, has been appointed Chairman of CANAL+ Africa. The new leadership team is drawn equally from CANAL+ and MultiChoice, with each company contributing an equal number of senior executives. These appointments are expected to foster growth and collaboration as the two teams merge their operations.
