A fire at Chevron's El Segundo refinery has been successfully contained, with minimal impact on operations. The blaze, which broke out recently, was limited to one section of the refinery and did not affect Linde's CO2 plant on site.

Linde's 600-tonne-per-day CO2 plant continues to operate at full capacity, despite the fire. This plant, which captures and purifies carbon dioxide from hydrogen production units, is a crucial part of the refinery's operations. It produces merchant CO2, a vital ingredient in various industries.

The El Segundo refinery, one of the largest in the region, processes 290,000 barrels of crude oil daily. Its main products include gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel, all of which are essential to the local and national economy.

While the fire at Chevron's El Segundo refinery caused concern, the prompt response of emergency services has ensured that operations, including Linde's CO2 plant, continue without disruption. The refinery's production of crude oil and CO2 remains vital to the region's economy.
