Chinese Automaker XPeng makes its debut in Austria, offering initial views on the country's perception of this domestic brand.

The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, XPeng, is set to make its debut in the Austrian market on October 1st. With a presence already established in 20 European countries, XPeng aims to redefine mobility in the automotive sector.

Founded in 2014, XPeng has been making waves in the industry with its innovative and high-performance vehicles. The company's latest offerings, the XPeng G6 and G9, will be produced in Steyr, Austria by Magna Steyr.

The XPeng G6, a sports SUV coupe with a length of 4.76m, boasts an over 575 hp engine and an 800-volt platform. It can charge from 10 to 80% in a remarkable 12 minutes, setting a new standard for charging efficiency.

The base version of the XPeng G6 costs €43,600, while the long range and AWD performance versions are priced at €47,600 and €51,600 respectively.

The XPeng G9, a large SUV with a futuristic design, offers a cozy atmosphere with real leather upholstery, a small oval steering wheel, and beautiful ambient lighting. It is harmonious, luxurious, fully equipped, and software-focused. During a test drive, it was found to be comfortable, refined, with a soft steering, well-dosed brakes, and a smooth acceleration.

The XPeng G9 provides plenty of space, both in the front and on the rear seats. The leather seats are ultra-soft and very comfortable, ensuring a pleasurable driving experience.

XPeng representatives have expressed a desire to earn the trust of dealers and customers in Austria. The company plans to sell vehicles through 8 to 10 dealers at 6 to 7 locations initially, expanding to about 20 locations by the end of 2026. However, the specific dealer names have not been publicly announced yet.

XPeng aims to sell 1,000 vehicles in Austria in the first year and achieve a three percent segment share. The company's focus on simplicity in features, with everything controlled centrally via the infotainment system, is expected to appeal to Austrian consumers.

With its rapid charging capabilities, high performance, and luxurious interior, XPeng is poised to make a significant impact in the Austrian market. The company's entry into Austria marks another step in its mission to redefine mobility in the automotive industry.
