City Authority Launches Campaign to Modernize All Public Motorbike Parking Spots
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has embarked on a significant project to upgrade all 5,365 registered public motorcycle taxi stands across the city. This initiative, running from August to December 2025, aims to enhance safety, service standards, and public trust in motorcycle taxi services.
Guided by the "Model Stand" criteria, as directed by Bangkok governor, Chadchart Sittipunt, the project's central focus is on raising operational standards and regulating driver behaviour. Each district office is tasked with assessing at least 20% of the stands monthly, using the Model Stand standards to evaluate conditions and service quality.
Inspections also involve collecting data on driver misconduct through AI cameras, public complaints, and official checks. This data-driven approach will help monitor performance and enforce discipline.
To ensure timely resolution of complaints and violations, the governor has mandated monthly working group meetings involving officials from various agencies. These meetings aim to address motorcycle taxi discipline issues and resolve outstanding complaints and violations within two months.
Public cooperation is essential to the success of this initiative. Citizens are encouraged to report violations through the Traffy Fondue application, an online platform for submitting complaints and tips. Reports should include key details like the license plate number, driver's ID number, or the name and location of the stand.
The application is used for reporting violations such as riding on pedestrian pavements, failing to display yellow license plates, improper uniforms, or suspected drunk driving. The collected data will be used to monitor performance and guide enforcement.
As of now, the total number of motorcycle taxi drivers stands at 79,521. The stands are located on pavements (1,497), private property (1,186), roadways (2,107), and other areas such as public parks (575).
The BMA appreciates the motorcycle taxi drivers who consistently uphold service standards. However, it is crucial to address and rectify the issues that have led to complaints and violations to maintain a safe and reliable transportation service for Bangkok's residents and visitors.
This comprehensive project is a step towards creating a more efficient, safer, and trustworthy motorcycle taxi service in Bangkok. By working together, the BMA, motorcycle taxi drivers, and the public can ensure a better transportation experience for all.
The BMA's project for upgrading public motorcycle taxi stands extends to various sectors, including the finance industry, as the project requires significant funding for its implementation from August 2025 to December 2025. By increasing operational standards and regulating driver behavior, this initiative also indirectly impacts the transportation industry, aiming to ensure a more efficient, safer, and trustworthy public-transit service within Bangkok.
