Rock-solid Mining Showdown: Casual Miners' Grand Slam at "Novo-Shakhtinsky"

Coal miners in the Primorye region, primarily in their professional capacities, have been identified.

Get ready for some dirt flying and gears grinding! A thrilling, multi-disciplinary competition, known as the Professional Skills Contest (Qualifying Round), took the stage at the "Novo-Shakhtinsky" open-pit mine run by LLC "Primoryeugol". This event, serving as a warm-up for the grand All-Russian Mining Olympics (12+), brought together mining titans from both the "Novo-Shakhtinsky" and "Luchogorsky Coal Open Pit" teams.

Kicking things off, Andrei Kostarev, head cheese of LLC "Primoryeugol", Vyacheslav Nataikin, fearless leader of "Luchogorsky Coal Open Pit", Alexander Pakhomov, the gritty director of the "Novo-Shakhtinsky" open-pit management, and Vadim Boyko, chairman of the Primorye coal workers' trade union organization, addressed the competitors, wishing them success and emphasizing the importance of industrial safety and profession prestige.

Prepare for some knowledge drops, as contestants battled it out in eight nail-biting categories: excavator operators, dump truck drivers, bulldozer jockeys, locomotive pilots, railway station duty officers, and track maintenance workers.

First up was the mental marathon: a quiz testing participants' command of the mining vernacular. The contenders cruised through, thanks to routine training sessions on terminals. And for the record, these miners aren't just book smart—they have the muscle to back it up.

Ever thought about navigating an excavator like a seasoned tightrope walker? Or maybe coordinating a dump truck convoy like a choreographed dance routine? The "Pavlovsky No2" coal mine served as the battleground for these unconventional obstacle courses, with contestants demonstrating their prowess in precision and power.

A smorgasbord of skill challenges awaited, including guiding an excavator bucket along a predetermined track, stacking rocks with laser-like precision, filling a bucket with soil with a deft touch, and kicking a ball into a goal with an excavator bucket—not your typical backyard games!

Feeling the competitive heat, participants celebrated the Professional Skills Competition as the perfect platform to flaunt their mining mastery and swap war stories with comrades.

As the dust settled, judges awarded personalized certificates and trophies to the victors, based on expertise in operating equipment, adherence to mining technology, speed, and Safety-First work ethos. With monetary rewards and the coveted title of best in their class on the line, the winners proudly secure their spots as representatives of the Far East's mining industry at the upcoming All-Russian Miner's Olympics happening in late July at the "Tugnuisky" mine.
