Cobalt refinery restart preparations initiated by Electra, marking the early phases of their support in North America's sole cobalt refining facility.

Commenced initial operations to facilitate the reopening of North America's sole cobalt refinery, as noted by Electra.

Here's a revamped version of the Electra Battery Materials Corporation press release:

In the heart of Canada, Electra Battery Materials Corporation has fired up its cobalt refinery project located just north of Toronto, leading a wave of innovation in North American critical minerals.

The cobalt refinery, a cornerstone of North America's battery materials supply chain, is now in the heart of an exciting phase. Electra has officially initiated a series of intensive early works aiming to pave the way for a swift restart of the construction process. As the only project in North America set to produce battery-grade cobalt sulfate at scale, Electra is poised to shake up the industry with its cutting-edge approach.

Situated next to the refinery, Electra’s modular battery recycling facility plans to recover lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese, and graphite from manufacturing scrap and end-of-life batteries. The recycling facility, scheduled to incorporate Electra's proprietary hydrometallurgical process, is currently undergoing advanced construction, backed by funding support from Natural Resources Canada.

To further strengthen the ties between Electra and the Canadian community, the company has partnered with the Three Fires Group. The collaboration aims to pioneer Canada's first Indigenous-led battery recycling venture, incorporating black mass processing at the batteyr-grade cobalt refinery.

With government funding in place and a philosophy centered on establishing a resilient, domestic supply chain, Electra is confident that it's just a stone's throw away from bringing the cobalt sulfate refinery into full commercial operation. So, buckle up—it seems like Electra is revving up for an electrifying leap forward in the global battery materials industry.

About Electra Battery Materials:

Based in Canada, Electra Battery Materials is a driving force behind advancing North America's critical minerals supply chain for lithium-ion batteries. With a comprehensive strategy to onshore critical minerals refining and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains, Electra is surging ahead across the landscape of the battery materials industry. Beyond establishing the cobalt sulfate refinery, Electra's plans include nickel refining and battery recycling projects, including integrating black mass recycling at its existing refining complex and exploring potential nickel sulfate production in North America.
