Commercial Profiteers at Haut Station: Identifying the Earners from the Pepsi Advertisement

🛤 Marvel at the Eye-Catching Pepsi Ad at Munich Central Station!

Are you strolling by Munich's main station, feeling awestruck by the massive Pepsi ad showcasing football sensation Florian Wirtz? But have you ever pondered who's raking in the cash from such a prime location advertisement?

Uncovering the Big Money Makers

Well, it's time to lift the veil! Now defunct Signa, the company that had filed for bankruptcy in November 2023, had once owned the property. But the year after (October 2024), rumors swirled that the city itself had cashed in on the Pepsi deal, not old Signa or even the city's empty coffers.

The Pep Talk on the Pep Ad

Confused? So were we! So, we dug deeper. After querying the city about the advertisements, we discovered that the city's own Circular Administration Office, which spearheads the "Taskforce Bahnhofsviertel", was running the show. Mayor Dieter Reiter had convened this task force in April 2024 to revitalize the Bahnhofsviertel.

Inside the Taskforce

Now, you might be wondering, why the moolah didn't go to Benko's troubled pockets or end up gathering dust in the city's empty coffers? Turns out the dough was channeled right across the street, into... you guessed it, the construction fence in Schützenstraße! At the moment, there's no ad on said fence, only an exhibition by the city museum.

The money, it seems, is being used to finance the fence's construction and maintenance — a task Signa couldn't (or wouldn't) shoulder, given their financial woes.

The Curious Case of the Construction Fence

The side of the construction fence facing the station is sanctioned as an advertising area, having been erected the previous year. And voila! Now you're all caught up with the minutiae of a seemingly simple Pepsi ad. Keep your eyes peeled for more surprises around every corner! 😉📸🤯💸🛤

  1. Despite the city's fiscal issues, the advertisement at Munich Central Station's prime location seems to have generated significant revenue, allegedly being managed by the city's Circular Administration Office as part of the "Taskforce Bahnhofsviertel."
  2. The money earned from the Pepsi ad at Munich Central Station is being channeled towards financing the construction and maintenance of the adjacent construction fence in Schützenstraße, a project that was previously beyond the means of company Signa, which had to file for bankruptcy.
