"Complimentary 10-day accommodation provided in the Almaty region: local government announces application process"
In the Akimat of Almaty, news swirls about giving out 10 free hectares of land for IHS construction.
Rumors have been circulating on social media that the region is busy with land redistribution for individual housing development (IHS). Supposedly, citizens who are eligible for free 10 hectares would receive these plots.
Officials from the Akimat of Almaty confirmed that they're currently reclassifying land from dacha plots to populated areas, with the intent of changing their purpose to IHS or LHP. By 2025, they plan to annex 23 dacha plots, totalling 123 hectares.
However, the Akimat clarified that the rumors about distributing free 10 hectares in 2025 are misleading. As they explained, if any plots become available after land integration, they'll be handed out to those in line based on priority.
As of 2025, approximately 1,284,488 people are waiting for their chance at 10 free hectares of IHS land in Almaty.
The Akimat added that no IHS plots are scheduled to be issued in the region this year, as there are no plots ready for distribution due to limited resources and the need to establish infrastructure. In 2023, only 4,300 land plots were given out in Almaty, which is less than 0.4% of the total number of those waiting.
The furnishing of plots happens as sites are prepared and free territories appear.
