In a series of statements, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has outlined his ambitious plans for Gaza's future, aiming to cover Israel's war costs and transform the region into a profitable business venture.

Smotrich, a prominent right-wing political figure, has emphasised his seriousness about these plans, which involve the dismantling of Hamas before any rebuilding can occur. He has started talks with the US regarding these proposals and is supported by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The minister believes there is a profitable business plan for Gaza, crafted by professional people, which is currently on US President Donald Trump's desk. In fact, Trump has suggested the idea of a 'NEA Riviera' in relation to Gaza.

Smotrich's plans involve sharing revenues from the marketing of Gaza land with unspecified parties and the construction of Israeli settlements in the region. This has sparked outrage internationally and among Palestinians, who demand rebuilding under their own administration.

The planning of these Israeli settlements in Gaza involves government officials, including Smotrich, and likely military authorities. After the dismantling of Hamas, Israel plans to create an alternative administration in Gaza that does not threaten Israel.

Netanyahu has also discussed the possibility of Israeli control over Gaza and the resettlement of the Palestinian population. Smotrich has stated that the usual 'phase of destruction' in new projects is over, and construction in Gaza must begin. He believes that building in Gaza is much cheaper now.

However, the question of what Gaza will look like in the future remains highly contentious. The future of Gaza, a region that has seen decades of conflict and destruction, is a complex issue with deep political and social implications. As these plans continue to unfold, the international community will be closely watching developments in Gaza.
