Construction preparations for the upcoming bridge building project have commenced
The Landesbetrieb Straßenbau NRW (State Road Construction Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia) has announced that the replacement construction work on the A516 in Sterkrade is set to begin soon, with preparatory work expected to be completed by January.
Despite the upcoming construction, the A516 will remain open for drivers, although it will be narrower for several months. This is possible due to the expedited construction process, which will see the use of prefabricated parts that only need to be assembled on site.
This accelerated construction method will significantly reduce the overall construction time, with only seven months planned for the bridge project, instead of the usual 24. The first bridge section will be demolished after the preparatory work has been completed.
The highway authority has assured that a full highway closure is not necessary for the bridge construction, ensuring minimal disruption to road users. This decision has been welcomed by the local community, who will continue to have access to the A516 during the construction period.
The replacement construction work on the A516 in Sterkrade is a testament to the ongoing commitment to infrastructure development in the region. The project is expected to improve traffic flow and safety, making travel through Sterkrade more efficient for drivers.
Stay tuned for updates on the progress of the A516 bridge construction in Sterkrade. The Landesbetrieb Straßenbau NRW will continue to provide regular updates on the project, ensuring the public is kept informed throughout the construction process.
