Crypto-focused Apollo introduces a tokenized credit fund, bridging the gap between the crypto realm and traditional finance on Wall Street.
Apollo Global Management, a leading asset manager, has made a significant stride in the decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape by launching the Securitize Tokenized Apollo Diversified Credit Fund (ACRED). This innovative fund, which was unveiled in mid-2025, is a blockchain-based tokenized feeder fund linked to Apollo's established Diversified Credit Fund.
Since its launch in January 2025, ACRED has attracted over $100 million in investments, demonstrating substantial market interest. The fund represents investor stakes as digital tokens on blockchain infrastructure, allowing crypto-native investors to hold the fund in digital wallets instead of traditional paper statements.
Bridging Traditional and Crypto Finance
ACRED's integration of blockchain technology into private credit marks a significant step towards blending traditional finance with the digital asset world. By tokenizing private credit assets, Apollo is enabling enhanced liquidity and transparency while exposing investors to risks typical of loans, as well as those related to stablecoin volatility and DeFi liquidations.
Leveraging DeFi and Tokenization
A derivative token called sACRED can be minted from ACRED holdings. This token can be used as collateral to borrow stablecoins on DeFi platforms, creating a leverage loop that has the potential to amplify returns. This unique feature blends traditional credit exposure with crypto lending and borrowing.
Navigating Associated Risks
While ACRED's integration of DeFi and tokenization offers exciting opportunities, it also presents challenges. Exposure to fluctuations in borrowing costs, coding vulnerabilities, or liquidity issues could lead to investor losses. Apollo has implemented measures to mitigate these risks, such as limiting redemptions to once per quarter and committing to repurchasing a minimum of 5% of shares each cycle.
A Growing Trend
Apollo's move into blockchain-based finance is part of a broader trend observed across Wall Street. Firms like BlackRock and Franklin Templeton are also exploring digital rails to tap into emerging liquidity pools. As the crypto market transitions away from the high-yield speculative environment, traditional finance participants are integrating credit products with blockchain-based leverage tools.
In summary, Apollo's integration of blockchain into private credit via ACRED has demonstrated significant market interest, allowed private credit assets to be tokenized and leveraged in DeFi, and positioned Apollo as a frontrunner in bridging traditional finance with blockchain innovation while navigating associated risks.
