Customs Raid in Lower Franconia Finds 100+ Suspected Labor Law Violations
The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt recently conducted a focused inspection on the hotel and catering industry in Lower Franconia and parts of Upper Franconia. The operation, held on September 22, 2025, involved over 80 officials and resulted in numerous suspected violations.
The inspection targeted 27 businesses and involved interviews with 116 individuals. It uncovered 35 cases of suspected violations of registration and recording obligations, along with 30 on-site investigations. Additionally, discrepancies in social security contributions were found in 21 cases, immigration law violations in 13 cases, and potential minimum wage violations in 9 cases. The Minimum Wage Act (MiLoG), which sets the general minimum wage at 12.82 euros per hour since January 1, 2025, was the focus of these investigations.
The operation also revealed 30 suspected violations of the Anti-Black Work Act. Three cases are being investigated for potential improper receipt of social benefits. Follow-up inspections will be conducted to verify the findings and ensure compliance with the relevant laws.
The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt, led by Press Spokesperson Benedikt Danz, is committed to combating illegal employment and ensuring fair labor practices. The hotel and catering industry, being a large and employment-intensive sector, remains a focus in their efforts to stop black work and protect workers' rights.
