Customs Raid Uncovers Labor, Immigration Law Violations in Beauty Salons and Construction Site
The Main Customs Office Augsburg recently conducted inspections across various beauty salons and a construction site, uncovering several labor and immigration law violations. The inspections, held on May 14, 2024, involved 56 officers and targeted 121 employees. Notably, several illegal residents were discovered, leading to multiple criminal and administrative proceedings.
The inspections, focusing on social security compliance and minimum wage payment, revealed four illegally present Vietnamese nationals in nail studios and one in a hairdressing salon. Additionally, a regional focus inspection at a construction site in Nesselwang found 20 individuals without valid residence permits, hailing from Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Criminal proceedings were initiated against an employee for working illegally and against employers for aiding and abetting illegal residence. Furthermore, five criminal proceedings were started for illegal residence and social security fraud, and four administrative penalty proceedings were initiated for various labor law violations. Separately, a warning fine was issued for failing to maintain working time records.
The inspections by the Main Customs Office Augsburg uncovered numerous labor and immigration law breaches, resulting in multiple criminal and administrative proceedings. Employers and employees alike face consequences for violations, with the aim of ensuring fair labor practices and legal residence status.
