The city of Wiesbaden is currently undergoing several roadworks and closures, with the most significant impact being felt on the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring.

As of August 18, 2025, the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring is closed, causing a major detour for both traffic and public transport. ESWE Verkehr, the city's public transport provider, has implemented a new detour plan affecting numerous bus lines, including 3, 6, 16, 22, 28, 27, 33, 34, 37, 45, 46, 49, and N7 Schulbus. This extensive rerouting is necessary to accommodate the closure.

The detour route for cars, when avoiding the closed Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, takes the following path: via Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, then via Mainzer Straße, then via Schwarzenbergstraße, and finally via Siegfriedring. However, it's important to note that the detour via the side lane of the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring is not suitable for trucks over 3.5 tons, which will be directed via Mainzer Straße instead.

The closure also affects bicycle and pedestrian traffic, and alternative routes are signposted. The right turn at Am Landeshaus on the detour via Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring, then via Biebricher Allee, Theodor-Heuss-Ring, and Siegfriedring will be open to traffic during the closure.

From September, one lane on the main carriageway of the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring will be available for traffic. The city does not provide information about the completion date of the works on the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring.

Although no explicit closure or detour for Mainzer Straße and Siegfriedring appears in the available data, given the scale of detours on nearby streets, it is likely that traffic is redirected via adjacent routes. The city asks for understanding regarding the traffic disruptions caused by the works.

For the latest updates on traffic and public transport in Wiesbaden, citizens are advised to check the official Wiesbaden city transport website or ESWE Verkehr real-time traffic info. It's also important to note that the school centers on Brunhildenstraße will remain accessible via the detour route on the side lane of the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring.

The Statistical Federal Office and the city administration are located near the detour route on the side lane of the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring between Wittelsbacherstraße and Wettinerstraße. A sewer maintenance project by the Wiesbaden Waste Management Authority (ELW) is being carried out on Mainzer Straße, causing single-lane traffic for approximately 70 meters up to Gartenfeldstraße.

The city does not provide information about the alternative route for trucks over 3.5 tons, and citizens are encouraged to avoid the closed area if destinations are not in the immediate vicinity, or use public transportation. The construction site on Welfenstraße will be completed in time for the start of the holidays. The completion of the construction site does not affect the accessibility of the school centers on Brunhildenstraße.

In conclusion, while the Gustav-Stresemann-Ring closure is causing significant traffic disruptions, the city is working to provide alternative routes and updates to keep the public informed. For the latest information, citizens are advised to check the official Wiesbaden city transport website or ESWE Verkehr real-time traffic info.
