Disrupted Railway Operations Due to Construction Works - Buses Serving as Alternative Transportation
The Gäubahn, a rail line running from Stuttgart to Switzerland, will experience disruptions from 10 PM tonight until Monday morning (2:30 AM). These disruptions are part of ongoing construction work in the region.
During this period, no trains will run on the section between Villingen and Donaueschingen. Passengers traveling between Engen/Singen and Konstanz are advised to switch to trains operated by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). Buses will be deployed as a replacement between Villingen, Donaueschingen, and Engen.
For those traveling between Oberndorf am Neckar and Rottweil, the disruptions will specifically impact your journey. Bridge work will take place between these two stations during the disruption period. Passengers on the Gäubahn should expect to switch to buses due to line closures.
Buses will also run between Oberndorf, Rottweil, and Singen as an alternative to the affected rail line, as announced by Deutsche Bahn (DB). Similarly, the replacement bus services for cancelled trains on the Hochrheinbahn between Waldshut and Erzingen will be operated by Deutsche Bahn as part of the construction project starting in 2026, with buses running as substitute transport during the planned train suspensions.
It's important to note that the disruptions on the Gäubahn are not permanent and will end on Monday morning (2:30 AM). The long-planned electrification of the Hochrhein Railway will be officially launched on Saturday. Preliminary work for this electrification has already begun.
The Black Forest Railway, which connects Karlsruhe with the lakeside city of Konstanz, is separate from the work on the Gäubahn and the Hochrhein Railway. Deutsche Bahn (DB) has not provided details about any potential disruptions or construction work in the Black Forest in this announcement.
Passengers are encouraged to inform themselves via DB's information channels regarding the disruptions and alternative transportation arrangements.
