Dixie Fire Devastation Highlights Urgent Need for Old-Growth Forest Conservation

They often have natural fire resistance, high biodiversity, significant carbon storage, and crucial hydrological functions. These factors combined make them robust against disturbances like wildfires and help reduce the risk of large, uncontrollable blazes.
