Dubai Taxi & DEWA Team Up for 208 Ultra-Fast EV Charging Stations

Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) have joined forces to install 208 ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, a significant step towards the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategy.

The strategic contract, signed by Waleed bin Salman of DEWA and Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi of DTC, with HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer of DEWA in attendance, supports Dubai's sustainability vision and DTC's fleet electrification roadmap. The initiative aligns with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, the Dubai Social Agenda 33, and the Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

The first phase will introduce two main charging hubs at DTC Depot near Dubai International Airport and DTC headquarters in Muhaisnah 4. This project is part of DEWA's EV Green Charger program, which has already established over 1,500 charging points across Dubai. DTC aims to fully electrify its fleet by 2040, with this initiative serving as a blueprint for sustainable, connected transport.

The partnership between DTC and DEWA is expected to reduce 37,939 metric tonnes of CO2 annually, contributing significantly to the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy. The inauguration of the 208 ultra-fast charging stations marks a milestone in Dubai's commitment to a greener future.
