Durham University Launches Alumni Angel Network for Student Entrepreneurs

Durham University has pioneered a new initiative in the UK, launching the Alumni Angel Network. This platform aims to connect alumni investors with student and graduate entrepreneurs, fostering innovation and market disruption.

The network, established by the Durham University Alumni Office, has swiftly assembled an impressive roster of 26 'angel' investors from various backgrounds. These members, hailing from fields like entrepreneurship, finance, and C-suite roles, bring a wealth of expertise to support budding ventures.

Since its inception, the network has curated a pipeline of relevant opportunities and hosted three inaugural events. At these events, seven businesses pitched their ideas to network members, seeking investment and support. These pitches spanned diverse industries, including FinTech, EdTech, sports sciences, and carbon-negative product manufacturing. The common goal of these pitched businesses is to provide solutions to pressing problems and shake up their respective markets.

Durham University's Alumni Angel Network is open to interested parties who wish to join, seek funding, or learn more about the initiative. With its world-class support and investment opportunities, the network is poised to become a significant driver of entrepreneurship and innovation among Durham alumni and students.
