EAM & Phillips 66 Team Up to Strengthen U.S. EV Battery Supply Chain

EAM & Phillips 66 Team Up to Strengthen U.S. EV Battery Supply Chain

Epsilon Advanced Materials (EAM) and Phillips 66 have joined forces in a strategic alliance to bolster the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage system (ESS) battery supply chain. This collaboration aims to secure and strengthen the production of crucial battery materials.

Phillips 66, led by Chairman and CEO Mark Lashier, will provide Green and Calcined Needle Coke from its Lake Charles, Louisiana refinery to EAM. This feedstock will support EAM's new 30,000-tonne graphite active anode material facility currently under development in North Carolina. The plant is expected to commence operations in 2027 and reach a capacity of 60,000 tonnes by 2030. At full capacity, it will produce enough graphite active anode material to power approximately one million electric vehicles annually.

Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Advanced Materials, hailed this collaboration as a significant step towards establishing a secure and sustainable battery materials supply chain for the U.S.

The alliance between Epsilon Advanced Materials and Phillips 66 is set to enhance the U.S. battery supply chain, with the North Carolina plant expected to significantly contribute to the production of electric vehicles and energy storage systems. Both companies are committed to driving the U.S. towards a more sustainable future.
