East German Businesses Express Doubt Regarding Economic Policy, According to Recent Survey - Eastern Businesses Express Doubts Regarding Economic Policies

Let's get down to the nitty-gritty: companies in the eastern part of Germany ain't too hopeful about the new black-red government's economic policy. That's according to the latest survey conducted at the Eastern German Economic Forum in Bad Saaraw, Brandenburg. Over the weekend, business gurus, association reps, and politicos will gather to figure out ways to navigate through this tight economic squeeze.

When queried, "You think the new fedgie gang can crack out some effective moves to boost the German economy?", a whopping 58.2% said "nah" and "damn right, nah!" Now, what's on their wishlists for a better economy? They're calling for less red tape (68%) and cheaper energy (54.4%).

Between March 3rd and April 26th, a total of 1,500 private companies across Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia with a minimum of 10 employees were polled. The pollsters, Civey, worked their magic on behalf of the location initiative "Germany - Land of Ideas" and Deutsche Kreditbank AG.

The big kahuna worries are labor shortages and energy prices. Yep, the federal government's got a mountain to climb, 'cause trust? Not much of it over here.

Philipp Mehne, the honcho of "Germany - Land of Ideas," shared his two cents: "Businesses in the eastern part of the country are crying out for less bureaucracy and lower energy costs."

Guess who's swinging by this Economic Forum? Katherina Reiche, the Minister of Economics (CDU), and Lars Klingbeil, the Finance Minister (SPD). Two heavy-hitters ready to face the music!
