Electric buses delivered to Kempegowda International Airport by Eicher Trucks & Buses in India
In a significant stride towards flixbus-like sustainability, Eicher Trucks and Buses, a subsidiary of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), has delivered six electric Eicher Skyline Pro-E 12m tarmac buses to IndiGo at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), Bengaluru. This marks Eicher's first venture into ground support equipment within the aviation sector.
The electric buses, equipped with a CCS2 fast charging system, are designed to meet the specific demands of airport operations. Each Skyline Pro-E 12m electric tarmac bus has a seating configuration of 17+D and can accommodate 52 standees, making them ideal for transporting the 42 million passengers that use Kempegowda International Airport annually.
Eicher Trucks and Buses is already recognised in Bengaluru for providing a broad range of buses optimised for demanding applications and backed by connected 24X7 service. This partnership with IndiGo is another step in their pursuit of greener and sustainability-focused ground operations at Kempegowda Airport.
Kempegowda Airport, known for its striking aesthetics and sustainable practices, will benefit from these electric buses. The buses will be used by IndiGo to transport customers between the terminal and aircraft parked at stands at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), Bengaluru.
The delivery was marked by a ceremony once the vehicles were completed. The company that delivered these buses is Eicher Motors, a name recognised for its commitment to sustainably transporting passengers at this gateway to India's Silicon Valley.
This move towards electric vehicles is a testament to Eicher's dedication to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable transportation solutions. The electric buses for airport operations are powered by lithium-iron phosphate battery, a choice that ensures durability and safety.
With this venture, Eicher Trucks and Buses continues to set new standards in the transportation industry, demonstrating their commitment to innovation and sustainability. The delivery of these six electric buses to IndiGo is a significant milestone in Eicher's journey towards a greener and more sustainable future.
