Energy collaboration within our organization has led to the launch of initial solar panel installations

In the district of Fürth, a significant step towards a more sustainable and regionally independent energy supply has been taken. The Intermunicipal Energy Alliance, formed by the municipalities of Cadolzburg, Roßtal, and Fürth, has implemented four photovoltaic systems in the spring of 2025.

The first system was officially commissioned on the roof of the multi-purpose hall in Wachendorf, boasting an optimal south alignment for high solar energy production. This design feature is also found in the photovoltaic system on the roof of the recycling center, another project undertaken by the alliance.

However, due to the high electricity consumption at the sewage treatment plant in Roßtal, hardly any excess energy is expected for feeding into the public grid. Instead, the energy generated on the dining hall is used exclusively in the Realschule, as it is a so-called zero-feed-in system.

The roofs of kindergartens, schools, and town halls in participating municipalities, such as Denkendorf and Neuhausen, are currently being checked for their suitability for photovoltaics. These two communes are conducting a joint PV bundle action to advance solar energy, including free information events and suitability checks for public buildings like schools and town halls.

In Cadolzburg, solar modules were mounted flat on a roof curved to the east and west at the building yard. Unfortunately, due to the slight north inclination of the roof, less electricity is produced on the dining hall than at the recycling center. However, the better use of the generated energy compensates for this disadvantage.

The Intermunicipal Energy Alliance's initiatives are a strong signal for sustainable energy supply and climate protection in the region. District Administrator Bernd Obst, Mayor Sarah Höfler from Cadolzburg, and Mayor Rainer Gegner from Roßtal all agree on this point.

In the coming days, a tenant energy system is to be installed on the new multi-family house of the housing cooperative in Wachendorf. For more information, contact Clemens Bloß EnergieAllianz Fürth GmbH at [email protected] or Tel.: 0911 13014251.

Each photovoltaic system has a capacity of approximately 30 kilowatt peak. The excess energy generated by the photovoltaic system on the recycling center is fed into the public grid, contributing to the district's renewable energy goals.

These first systems mark an important step towards a more sustainable future for the district of Fürth. As more projects are undertaken and more municipalities join the alliance, the region is poised to become a leader in renewable energy generation and climate protection.
