Rügen Bridge Temporarily Closing Soon: Here's Your Guide

Upcoming closure of Rügen Bridge in the near future - Enforced Closure of Rügen Bridge Delayed by Several Days

Hey there! Need to cross the Rügen Bridge in Stralsund, Germany anytime soon? Well, you might want to pay attention to this!

The Rügen Bridge, connecting beautiful Stralsund to the stunning Rügen Island, will face a full closure starting from next Tuesday, 13th May. Though the initial estimated duration is until 5th June, keep in mind that this schedule might change. The State Office for Road Construction and Traffic announced this unexpected shift, as the works needed for the renovation project could be completed earlier than planned, leaving us with no choice but to close the bridge for a bit longer for resurfacing and asphalt work.

But don’t worry, we got a plan! The bridge will reopen temporarily during Pentecost, from 6th to 10th June, to avoid traffic chaos. After that, it'll close again until the 18th, before being partially reopened again. The work is expected to be completed by 25th June.

Now, if you're headed to Rügen Island during the month of May, be prepared for potential traffic congestion on federal road 96 between Kubbelkow and Bergen-Mitte, as it's currently closed for asphalt renewal and is expected to remain so until 28th May.

So, make sure to check with local transportation authorities or consult official German road maintenance websites before making your travel plans to Rügen Island, especially if you're visiting around Pentecost. Because you don't want any surprises that could potentially ruin your vacation!

Happy travels!
