Entrepreneur Sentenced for Social Security Fraud Totaling €119,000
A 49-year-old entrepreneur from the Regensburg district has been sentenced for making false statements to social security authorities and the Federal Employment Agency. The owner of a tiling company was found guilty of withholding social security contributions and misappropriating wages, totaling over 119,000 euros.
The entrepreneur, who runs a tiling business, failed to pay approximately 56,000 euros in social security contributions over several years. Due to these false statements, he unlawfully received an additional 63,000 euros in benefits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he further exploited the system by applying for short-time work allowance while his employees were working full-time.
The Regensburg District Court, located at Dachauplatz 3, 93047 Regensburg, Germany, handed down a sentence of one year and eleven months imprisonment for withholding and misappropriation of wages, and for subsidy fraud. However, the execution of the sentence was suspended.
The entrepreneur's actions resulted in a significant financial loss for the social security system. The court's sentence serves as a reminder that such fraudulent activities will not be tolerated.
