In a significant shift in the crypto market, US-based corporate investors are increasingly viewing Ethereum as a strategic treasury asset, akin to how gold was held in the 20th century. This trend, driven by technological maturation, regulatory clarity, and growing integration into traditional financial systems, is reshaping Ethereum's role in corporate finance.

On August 7, Sharplink Gaming, a strategic treasury investor, confirmed a $200 million direct offering backed by global institutional investors. Proceeds from the offering will expand Sharplink Gaming's Ethereum treasury to over $2 billion.

The rising institutional adoption of Ethereum, especially among US-based corporate investors, is expected to continue driving upside bets and anticipate imminent capital inflows. Major US corporations, including those involved in crypto infrastructure, decentralized finance (DeFi), and blockchain technology, are actively incorporating Ethereum in their capital strategies.

Technological advancements have played a crucial role in Ethereum's institutional-grade adoption. The Merge, scheduled for 2022, will switch Ethereum to Proof-of-Stake, drastically reducing energy use and enabling staking yields. Future upgrades like The Surge, slated for 2023-2025, aim to improve Layer 2 scalability, slash transaction fees, and boost throughput to levels conducive to business-scale settlements. The Verge upgrade, expected in 2025, will enhance node efficiency and add quantum resistance, increasing institutional confidence in Ethereum's security and long-term viability.

Despite higher on-chain transaction fees compared to some competitors, institutional investors and major US banks still prefer Ethereum for settlement of large-scale financial transactions, prioritizing its security, regulatory integration, and established infrastructure over cost.

The recent regulatory framework in the US, notably the GENIUS Act signed in July 2025, has provided clearer guidance on stablecoins and digital assets, further aiding institutional adoption by alleviating regulatory uncertainties that historically hindered corporate crypto involvement.

This institutional adoption momentum has fueled Ethereum's price, with ETH surging about 80% in Q3 2025 so far, largely driven by sustained institutional buying in the US and globally.

Meanwhile, Ethereum reclaimed the midline support at the 20-day average earlier this week at $3,719. On August 8, ETH shattered the $4,050 resistance level, marking its highest price point since December 2024. Currently, ETH is trading in the upper volatility range between $4,009 and $4,350.

The Bollinger Bands for ETH have started expanding again, indicating renewed directional momentum. Failure to maintain a daily close above $4,000 could see ETH revisit the $3,695 to $3,719 support zone. However, if ETH confirms a daily close above $4,100, it could quickly accelerate toward all-time highs.

The Best Wallet project is positioning itself as a DeFi-native wallet for new market entrants looking to benefit from Ethereum's anticipated breakout phase amid rising institutional inflows. The Best Wallet presale has raised over $14 million, offering investors priority access to future project listings, reduced transaction fees, and staking rewards with high APY.

In conclusion, the latest developments in Ethereum's institutional adoption underscore a significant strategic shift toward holding Ethereum as a treasury asset. This trend is likely to continue, reshaping Ethereum's role in corporate finance and aligning it closer to traditional reserve assets like gold.
