Event Conclusion in Taipei 2025 FIA Forum Marks a Triumphant Close
The Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) is actively working to enhance financial stability, resilience, and market growth within the Asian asset management market. This is being achieved through ongoing regulatory updates, product innovations, and participation in broader initiatives that position Taiwan as a regional asset management hub.
At the FIA Forum: Taipei 2025, co-hosted by TAIFEX and the Futures Industry Association (FIA) on Aug. 14 at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Taipei, key discussions focused on driving market growth through innovation and expanded participation. Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) Deputy Chairman Chen Yen-liang spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of the futures market's price discovery and risk-hedging capabilities in enhancing financial stability and resilience.
Chen Yen-liang also highlighted the world's current challenges, including escalating geopolitical conflicts, growing economic uncertainty, and rapid technological change. He believes that with joint efforts, Taiwan's financial market can grow steadily and play a greater role in the Asian asset management market.
TAIFEX's recent efforts include participation in Taiwan Weeks 2025 (October 15–23). Alongside other Taiwanese financial institutions and overseen by the FSC, TAIFEX is contributing to this flagship event, which aims to promote Taiwan as a premier asset management center in Asia. The event will focus on key policy developments, product innovation, financial inclusion, and ESG sustainability, highlighting Taiwan’s commitment to financial market development and stability in the Asian region.
In terms of product innovation, TAIFEX has recently introduced new single stock futures and enhanced weekly options (e.g., TAIEX Friday Weekly Options), providing investors with more tools for hedging and diversified trading strategies. These innovations support market growth and liquidity, attracting a broader base of asset managers and investors in Asia.
Moreover, TAIFEX is aligning with Asia’s Asset Management Center Initiative led by the FSC. Through TAIFEX’s active role, Taiwan is advancing policies and infrastructure to integrate asset management innovations, regulatory transparency, and sustainability considerations (ESG). TAIFEX’s involvement in these initiatives promotes an environment conducive to long-term financial stability and market expansion across Asia.
TAIFEX is also focusing on deepening ESG practices and pushing the market towards a new stage of greater stability and diversity. This is achieved through market opening and product innovation. For example, TAIFEX has launched more precise and flexible products, including Micro TAIEX Futures, to meet the market's hedging needs.
The FIA Forum: Taipei 2025 attracted over 300 industry professionals from various fields, and many participants expressed looking forward to participating in the event again in the future. The forum featured two panel discussions: "Taiwan's Derivatives Markets in an Era of Uncertainty and Opportunity" and "Generating Liquidity: Navigating a Shifting Trading Environment."
Since 2024, the FSC has been promoting the creation of an Asian asset management center with Taiwanese characteristics. The goal is to expand the scale of Taiwan's asset management, improve the financial services chain, and attract domestic and foreign funds to deepen their presence in Taiwan. The FSC will collaborate with TAIFEX and other parties to strengthen the application of derivative financial products in asset management.
In summary, TAIFEX is advancing financial stability and resilience by dynamic risk management practices and enhancing market growth via product innovation and strategic participation in regional asset management initiatives coordinated by Taiwan’s FSC. These efforts position TAIFEX as a key player in Asia’s evolving asset management ecosystem.
