Ex-LASD Deputy's Guilty Plea Exposes Crypto Corruption

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) faces a crisis of trust following the actions of ex-deputy Michael Coberg and others. Coberg's guilty plea to conspiracy charges linked to crypto promoter Adam 'Crypto Godfather' Iza has brought to light a web of corruption and abuse of power.

Coberg, who will be sentenced on February 17, 2026, admitted to earning $20,000 monthly from Iza. In exchange, he used his badge to intimidate rivals and stage arrests. Iza, awaiting sentencing in December 2025, ran fraudulent cryptocurrency schemes and paid off corrupt deputies. Victims were reportedly abducted, extorted, and falsely arrested with the help of these deputies.

The FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation are leading the ongoing probe into Iza's schemes, with assistance from LASD. Despite extensive efforts, no specific lead investigator has been publicly identified, particularly in relation to corruption cases. Official press releases or reports from the involved agencies should be consulted for updates.

The guilty plea of Michael Coberg has exposed a serious breach of trust within the LASD. As the investigation into Adam 'Crypto Godfather' Iza continues, the department and the public await justice for the victims and a restoration of faith in the force.
