The FBI has chosen Leidos as the contractor for a $129.7 million, five-and-a-half-year project to support its Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division's Fingerprint Analysis Support Team (FAST) Biometric Services program. This contract forms a crucial aspect of the FBI's initiative to modernize and strengthen its biometric identification capabilities [1].

Since 2018, Leidos has worked alongside CJIS in developing and integrating the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system, a cutting-edge biometric identification system utilized by the FBI and various state, local, federal, and tribal authorities. NGI, recognized as the world's largest and most efficient electronic repository of biometric and criminal history information, includes innovative features such as the Repository for Individuals of Special Concerns and Rap Back, alerting authorized users of any criminal activity related to individuals holding public trust positions [1].

Leidos' collaboration with CJIS's test, verification, and validation (TVV) teams since 2016 has been bolstered by the application of agile methodologies and development operations concepts, enhancing software development and maintenance processes. This partnership between Leidos and CJIS has been successful throughout this period [1].

This contract further cements Leidos as a vital partner in advancing federal law enforcement technology infrastructure, contributing to the FBI's mission through superior biometric services [1].

This contract cements Leidos' role as a key player in upgrading the FBI's technology infrastructure, specifically in the field of biometric finance, as they continue to support CJIS's FAST Biometric Services program [1]. The collaboration between Leidos and CJIS in the finance and technology sectors has proven effective, leading to the development of the innovative Next Generation Identification system [1].
