New Finance Director Brings Decade of Experience to Covington
Bre Gaffney, a seasoned financial professional with over a decade of experience in federal financial management, has taken the helm as the new Finance Director of Covington. Her arrival comes at an exciting time for the city, as it embarks on several key projects, including the construction of a new City Hall and the revitalization of the Central Riverfront District.
Gaffney, who recently relocated to Cincinnati with her family, has spent her career overseeing complex budgets, managing major program transitions, and leading strategic initiatives. In her previous roles, she led a new division overseeing appropriations and allocations, ensuring compliance with federal guidelines, and establishing budget transparency and financial oversight.
Mayor Ron Washington believes that Gaffney's extensive experience will be instrumental in strengthening Covington's financial operations and position. Gaffney's focus has always been on delivering results that matter to communities, and she is eager to collaborate with a team passionate about serving the community.
In her most recent positions at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., Gaffney oversaw a $7.7 billion budget. She is known for her ability to align budgets with strategic goals and for spearheading stakeholder communication efforts to foster transparency and trust.
Gaffney is excited to be in the Cincinnati region and feels lucky to call it home. She is particularly thrilled about being closer to family members in the city and looks forward to building a life in a community where her son Dax can grow up feeling grounded, supported, and part of something special.
