Düsseldorf's EUREF Campus Aims to Lead Climate-Neutral Transition

The EUREF Campus Düsseldorf, a new sustainable office and research location near Düsseldorf Airport, is set to open in 2024 and will serve as a hub for forward-thinking companies and research institutions focused on climate-neutral technologies and sustainable mobility.

The innovative energy concept of the campus centres around the combined use of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind energy, and the utilization of the Lichtenbroicher Baggersee and local groundwater resources. This commitment to sustainability is evident in the campus's offer of around 69,000 m² of climate-neutral office space and infrastructure.

The campus will be home to approximately 3,500 employees from various sectors, including established companies, start-ups, science, and research. Tenants already include GTU Mobility GmbH, an engineering firm specializing in transport infrastructure, and Mölnlycke Health Care, a medical technology manufacturer.

Mayor Thomas Geisel has linked the goal of making Düsseldorf climate-neutral by 2035 to the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf project, stating that it will function as a catalyst for sustainable innovation, accelerate the city's transition to climate-neutral urban development, and create a collaborative ecosystem for climate-conscious technologies and solutions.

The EUREF Campus Düsseldorf is expected to generate many high-quality jobs and contribute significantly to Düsseldorf's economic and innovation location. Reinhard Müller, CEO of Berlin EUREF AG, has announced the first groundbreaking for September 2020, and the building permit has been submitted.

The intelligence cluster created by the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf is focused on the future themes of energy, mobility, and sustainability, making it an internationally relevant future site for the energy and mobility transition. The campus is currently being showcased in a multimedia exhibition at the Stadtsparkasse in Berliner Allee 33, which is open until August 21.

Mayor Geisel has emphasized the importance of the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf project for the city, stating that it is a "lighthouse project" that will help create an intelligence cluster in the state capital. Reinhard Müller also expresses eagerness for the exchange and cooperation with on-site actors at the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf.

Ultimately, the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf is a project aimed at fulfilling the federal government's climate protection goals for the year 2050, demonstrating the city's commitment to a sustainable future.
