Farm Support Payment: Allocation of 20,500 Crores from Varanasi for Over 9.7 Crore Farmers in the 20th Instalment of PM-Kisan Scheme
The 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme is all set to be released on August 2, 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch the payment during a public event in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, his parliamentary constituency.
In this installment, approximately ₹20,500 crore will be transferred directly to about 9.7 crore eligible farmers, continuing the direct benefit transfer program started in 2019, which has so far disbursed ₹3.69 lakh crore across 19 installments.
The installment amount is ₹2,000 per eligible farmer, part of the total ₹6,000 provided annually in three installments under the scheme. To ensure smooth disbursement, farmers must complete their e-KYC, link their Aadhaar to their bank account, and verify the accuracy of their land records.
Farmers can verify their payment status or beneficiary details by visiting the official PM-Kisan website (pmkisan.gov.in). The official PM Kisan social media account has advised beneficiaries to look for the transaction alert on August 2 as confirmation of funds receipt.
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has urged farmers to actively participate in the events scheduled for August 2. Every state will organize events where lakhs of farmers, state ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local representatives will participate.
The event in Varanasi will be attended by 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), over 100 Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) institutes, and vice-chancellors of agricultural universities from across India. Agriculture Minister Chouhan has emphasized that the event will act as a significant outreach initiative.
Preparations for the nationwide rollout of the 20th instalment were reviewed in a high-level meeting held in Delhi on July 29, 2025, attended by Shivraj Singh Chouhan and senior officials, including Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and ICAR Director General Dr. Mangi Lal Jat.
Chouhan has also directed officials to spread awareness at the grassroots level through Krishi Sakhis, Drone Didis, Bank Sakhis, Pashu Sakhis, Bima Sakhis, and village sarpanches. The upcoming instalment of PM-KISAN is part of a countrywide campaign.
