April's job market saw only a paltry 4.2% unemployment rate, a historical low. But despite the strong labor market, McDonald's recent report showed a double whammy – two straight quarters of declines due to customers tightening their purse strings.

Same-store sales at US McDonald's locations plummeted 3.6% in the latest quarter, marking the chain's worst drop since 2020 when stay-at-home orders were in full effect.
