FDP Outlines Mobility Stance in Solingen: Cars, Public Transport, Cycling Coexist
The Free Democratic Party (FDP) has outlined its stance on mobility in Solingen, emphasizing the importance of fords alongside public transport and cycling. They have criticized the current mobility concept and proposed alternative solutions.
The FDP believes that fords remain essential for many Solingen residents, advocating for an attractive public transport system and safe cycling paths to coexist with them. They have called for an inventory of existing parking spaces and oppose any artificial reduction of parking offers city-wide.
The party rejects the introduction of a city-wide 30 km/h zone beyond main roads and opposes the reduction of lanes or displacement of roadside parking in favor of paid parking lots and garages. Instead, they propose considering fords, trains, and cycling together in mobility planning.
The FDP laments the lack of innovative mobility models in the current concept. They suggest expanding on-demand mobility offers and cite examples like MOIA's autonomous driving and efficient ride-pooling services, and the BICAR prototype, a compact, weather-protected electric vehicle designed for urban mobility by the interdisciplinary ZHAW research team.
The FDP rejects the current mobility concept for Solingen, calling for a balanced approach that acknowledges the importance of fords while promoting public transport and cycling. They emphasize the need for innovative mobility models and the strengthening of public transport, despite the challenges faced by commuters with train traffic.
