The Ministry of Economy, Labor and Tourism in Baden-Württemberg has announced a funding call as part of the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRE) Baden-Württemberg program. This call, published on September 15, 2025, offers 15 million euros for the expansion and modernization of innovation infrastructure in municipalities, districts, and communal facilities.

The focus of this funding call is on modernizing and expanding existing local infrastructures like innovation, start-up, and technology centers, as well as transfer centers. The aim is to improve the framework conditions for innovation activities at the local level.

Cities, municipalities, districts, municipal associations, municipal special-purpose associations, and municipal companies with more than 50% municipal shareholding in Baden-Württemberg are eligible to apply for this funding program. The deadline for applications is December 19, 2025.

The funding aligns with the Innovation Strategy Baden-Württemberg and supports the priorities of future technologies and competencies, as well as resource and climate protection. Possible investments include intelligent technologies, such as the use of Artificial Intelligence or Smart Building solutions, and modern technical equipment to support future-oriented work and research environments.

The European Union is providing around 279 million euros to Baden-Württemberg under the Funding Period 2021 to 2027. Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Tourism, emphasized the need for action due to the accelerated structural change caused by technological developments such as digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.

The Ministry encourages applications that foster cooperation, networking, and knowledge transfer between companies. The modernized centers should serve as hubs for innovation, start-ups, and technology transfer, contributing to the overall economic growth and competitiveness of Baden-Württemberg.

For more information or to submit an application, please visit the Ministry's website, where you will find an accessible Press Office and Contact Form. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism can also be contacted via their Press Office and Citizen Liaison Officer.

In addition, the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas, and Consumer Protection is strengthening Regional Innovation Systems through the expansion and modernization of communal innovation infrastructure. This joint effort underscores the commitment of the Baden-Württemberg government to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of businesses in the region.
