Financial Turnover Signifies Positive Growth for this Agency's Satisfied Finance Director

New and Improved Version

Mike Neve's admission to making ice cream often elicits, "Hey, you thinkin' about bein' the next Ben & Jerry's?" But that ain't what it's about for Neve, brick-and-mortar finance director at North Carolina’s indie outfit The Variable. Nah, he was more interested in findin' ways to elevate his love for frozen treats.

While Neve appreciates Ben & Jerry's, especially since his missus hails from their homeland of Vermont, it was never about emulating them. Instead, it was all about turning a passion into a pastime. And that passion ignited just before the pandemic storm, when ol' Mike started whippin' up creamy treats in his very own kitchen—just for fun.

This sparked his journey to a week-long educational stint at a local facility run by Italian ice cream equipment titan, Carpigiani. The training was overseen by a seasoned pro who had been runnin' her own scoop shop for a solid three decades.

To mix things up, Neve teamed up with downtown Winston-Salem's Black Mountain Chocolate, makin' and sellin' his ice cream creations to eager locals. And to connect even deeper with his community, Mike's got a booth at the Saturday farmers market in Winston-Salem, sharin' his flavorful concoctions with fellow ice cream enthusiasts far and wide[1].

[1] Note: The author found it fascinating how Neve's ice cream endeavor not only showcased his passion but also fostered connections within his community. This passion project allowed him to translate his interest in a homely dessert into a meaningful venture, sharing his treats with locals at markets and through a partnership with a local café-bakery. This shows that even a simple hobby can have significant impact and offer opportunities for community engagement.

Usually, Mike Neve, the finance director at The Variable, is associated with the brick-and-mortar business sector. However, his love for ice cream led him to a surprising expansion into the food-and-drink industry.

In pursuit of refining his homemade ice cream, Neve opted for extensive training from Carpigiani, a renowned Italian ice cream equipment manufacturer.

His ice cream journey didn't stop there; Neve collaborated with Black Mountain Chocolate, a local café-bakery in downtown Winston-Salem.

With his unique ice cream creations, Neve started selling to eager locals, fostering connections within his community.

The director's new lifestyle venture, merging personal interests with community engagement, demonstrates that even a simple hobby can elevate into a meaningful business in the realms of food-and-drink and lifestyle.
